Dear Students, Parents, and Banneker Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Benjamin Banneker High School! It is an honor and privilege to serve as your principal, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our students, families, faculty, and staff. Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to welcome you to another year of excellence, growth, and achievement.

As a servant leader with a Children First mindset, my commitment is to ensure that every decision we make is centered on what is best for our students. At Banneker, we believe that every child has unique gifts, talents, and potential, and it is our responsibility to provide the support, resources, and opportunities necessary for them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our focus this year is "Expanding Greatness Every Day by Advancing Instruction, Strengthening Climate, and Achieving Excellence." We will continue to strengthen teaching and learning, foster meaningful connections with students and families, and maintain high expectations that prepare our students for success in college, careers, and life.

I encourage every student to become actively involved in the many extracurricular activities, clubs, athletic programs, fine arts opportunities, and student organizations available at Banneker. Participation beyond the classroom enhances the high school experience, builds leadership skills, creates lasting friendships, and helps students develop into well-rounded young adults.

My administrative team and I maintain an open-door policy because we value communication, collaboration, and partnership. We want students and parents to know that we are here to listen, support, and work alongside you to ensure a positive and successful educational experience for every student.

Parents, your involvement is essential to the success of our school community. We encourage you to become engaged through volunteer opportunities, participation in school events, parent organizations, and partnerships that help strengthen the connection between home and school. Together, we can create an environment where all students are empowered to excel.
