3DE Course Progression

Students take 6-year courses each year. Any free periods after the required courses listed above are scheduled will be available for electives, dual enrollment, AVID, traditional work-based learning, or the College & Career Academy. These options may have prerequisite and/or enrollment requirements and require counselor pre-approval. Chronically absent students, tardy students, students with poor classroom management, and students who fail to maintain academic standing will be dismissed from the program. Students attending PEAK or on long-term suspensions will be dismissed from the program.

3DE Magnet Students are required to take the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and You Science in the program's prescribed grade levels.

3DE Magnet Students are required to attend teacher tutorials and 3DE study hall.

3DE Magnet students are required to complete two pathways in the program: Financial Services and Entrepreneurship. WBL Senior Consultancy is a fourth-level course that must be completed in the 12th grade.

Rationale for 3DE Magnet Program Course Progression

The 3DE Magnet Program at Banneker High School is designed to deliver a rigorous and relevant academic and extracurricular experience that prepares students for postsecondary success and life beyond high school. The intentional course progression includes a comprehensive combination of Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, CTAE, and World Language courses aligned with each student’s academic and career interests.

Purpose of the Course Progression

The goal of the 3DE course progression is to equip students with the academic foundation, critical thinking skills, and career readiness needed to:

  • Complete various 4-year college degrees in just 3 years

  • Secure competitive internships while in college

  • Pursue high-paying, high-demand careers that support a strong quality of life

By following the outlined pathway, students position themselves to thrive in college and enter the workforce with a distinct advantage.

Why Adherence to the Course Progression Is Critical

  1. HOPE Scholarship & Postsecondary Opportunities
The structured blend of rigorous coursework meets the eligibility criteria for the Georgia HOPE Scholarship and prepares students for admission to selective colleges and universities. Deviating from the plan could jeopardize scholarship opportunities and academic readiness.

  2. Pathway Completion & Industry Credentials
Students are required to complete two CTAE career pathways: Financial Services and Entrepreneurship, both of which culminate in End-of-Pathway Assessments (EOPAs) and real-world applications such as the WBL Senior Consultancy. These pathways build valuable credentials and equip individuals with job-ready skills.

  3. Alignment with Rigorous AP and Dual Enrollment Courses
The progression incorporates AP and Dual Enrollment courses in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies to ensure academic rigor and early college exposure. This alignment supports the accumulation of college credit, leadership development, and readiness for competitive programs, such as AP Capstone.

  4. College and Career Readiness
The academic design ensures students not only meet graduation requirements but also gain experiences—such as internships, case challenges, and community partnerships—that are essential for building competitive college applications and future employability.

  5. Holistic Student Growth
The progression is embedded within a broader framework of character development, critical thinking, business acumen, and social-emotional growth, giving students the tools to become well-rounded individuals who thrive in school and beyond.

Conclusion: The Value of Staying on Course

Staying on the prescribed 3DE course progression:

  • Maintains pathway integrity and eligibility for industry-recognized credentials

  • Safeguards scholarship and financial aid opportunities

  • Aligns with the expectations of competitive colleges and employers

  • Supports academic acceleration and early degree completion

  • Prepares students to live a productive, self-sustaining life in a rapidly evolving global economy

For these reasons, students and families must follow the course plan as outlined, without deviation, to receive the full benefits of the 3DE Magnet experience.
